My Concerto, written for the Junior RNCM Performance Day (02/07/16) – my last day at the Junior RNCM – was performed by the JRNCM Symphony Orchestra. It was conducted by Ewa Strusińska. The soloists were Joshua Cox (piano primo/celesta) and myself (piano). I included the following note in the programme:
“My Concerto explores large-scale, blurred sounds; the orchestral writing generally being very dense. The keyboardists begin together (as a piano duet) and quickly become independent. Other soloists, including the percussionists (particularly the marimba), violoncello and horn, feature throughout, often forming units with other instruments (e.g. marimba, celesta and piano). Concerto marks the end of the fourth and final year of my studies at the Junior RNCM.”

Following this, I’ve just begun a new piece for clarinet quartet, at the request of an RNCM ensemble – more information to follow.
